In Kennel Programs

For dogs 6 months of age and older

There are three In Kennel programs that we offer. Boot Camp, Behavioral Rehabilitation and Refreshers.

The In Kennel Programs are designed to fit the busiest dog owners, and those who need a fast solution for their dog problems, while spending minimal time and efforts with everyday practice. In kennel type training is often the only solution for highly aggressive and nervous dogs. Be sure to read the Details section below.

Boot Camp

What is it: Essentially, Boot Camp is a combination of Levels 1 & 2 skills (see the On Site programs page for the list of commands included), done in a board and train environment. Your dog is put in a structured, easy to understand, predictable environment, where his/her formal education is taught daily by a skilled professional. All you'll have to do, upon graduation, is to follow our individualized recommendations, and continue convincing your dog that you're worth their respect and admiration.

Time: Eight (8) days spent at our facility, and two to three (2-3) follow-up lessons where trainer, dog and owner work together.

What You'll Learn:

  • Timing Praise and Corrections
  • Focus Work

Behavior Rehabilitation Boot Camp

What is it: An intense and deeply personalized training program for dogs with severe behavioral issues. Handler aggression*, human aggression*, dog aggression, phobias, obsessive compulsive behaviors, fear related issues, dogs with one last chance before euthanasia, red zone cases, etc.

Time: Eleven (11) days spent at our facility, and two to three (2-3) follow-up lessons where trainer, dog and owner work together.

Note: The main focus is on controlling and resolving the major behavioral issues. In addition the dog will be introduced to all commands included with regular Boot Camp.

* Please note that Gaby is extremely selective when evaluating or accepting aggression cases in her facility. Majority of human aggression cases will be denied services for various reasons. Owner may be referred out, when possible.

In Kennel Refreshers

Refresher training is available to all Complete K-9 Academy graduates. Your dog will receive the same amount of training, as all Boot Camp students, as well as socialization and play time. Boot Camp refresher students often join their trainer to On Site lessons, and are worked around new, and challenging distractions daily.
This is the perfect solution for clients who have not been as diligent with their practice, or who would just like to sharpen their skills.
Five (5) days minimum kennel stay. Very limited availability.

In Kennel Programs Details:

  • We take a maximum of two (2) dogs at a time in Boot Camp, in order to maximize the bonding/training experience and allow us to concentrate on their particular issues. Exceptions are made occasionally, to better accommodate clients' travel plans.

  • Dogs in Boot Camp spend the entire day with the trainer, be it on the training field, with other people and dogs during private On Site lessons, or on the road to planned off campus outings (Behavioral Rehabilitation cases only upon special agreement).

  • The Boot Camp program is not for everyone. We carefully screen our potential Boot Campers for temperament and health. Extreme issues, such as aggression and phobias, are welcomed in Boot Camp if your initial evaluation recommends it. On the other hand, completely "normal" dogs may also be welcomed in Boot Camp, regardless of issues.

  • Because your dog will spend the entire day with the trainer, he/she will be under constant control, training and supervision, and will receive undivided attention from the trainer, regarding solving his/her issues.

  • You will not be involved in the initial training phase during a Boot Camp program. Your trainer will perform the bulk of the training, and problem solving, in your absence and can therefore accomplish your goals, in a matter of just a couple of days. Our experience allows us to achieve results immediately, without further confusing your dog.

  • During Boot Camp your dog will stay in a custom built, European style, air conditioned kennel, in a meticulously cleaned indoor/outdoor run, at our training facility in Myakka City. The kennel is situated directly next to the trainer's home. Our own dogs are also housed in the same facility as your dog will be. Our kennel is comprised of seven (7) runs only. It allows us to provide individualized attention to all of our guest.

  • Upon your dog's completion of the Boot Camp program, you will be given a demonstration of your dog's performance, and commands learned. Remember that upon graduation your dog will know a lot more than you. Therefore you will be taught how to work with your newly improved dog, in a series of scheduled lessons, slowly instilling confidence in you and respect in your handling skills from your dog. Your first lesson takes place the day you pickup your dog from Boot Camp. The next one is usually scheduled a week from the first.

  • All dogs must go through an initial evaluation and consultation before signing up for Boot Camp.

  • Boot Camp is only available for dogs 6 months of age or older. Rabies vaccination and proof of immunizations are required.

  • Out of town/state dogs are happily accepted in Boot Camp. Airport pick up arrangements can be made. We do however require an in person evaluation prior to signing up. In order to protect our Boot Camp program success rate, and to be fair to the dog, we can not accommodate situations where, in person, client's involvement is limited or non existent.
